LaserArrow wrote:Well, I enjoyed the humor in this episode.
I laughed when the spectre was frozen and Odd walked in front of him only to get run into a second later.
Also, Odd singing Frère Jacques on the loudspeaker cracked me up. Crazy as well as I had just been thinking about that song the day before o.O

However, yaaaah, when the spectre was frozen and Ulrich and Aelita just stood there, that was really lame.
It was their chance to run and they just stood there. Come ooon.

And also, why does the group think it's smart to lock them up in the gym? I mean - why not have them play it safe with Jeremy in the factory, so if there is an emergency, they can go to Lyoko immediately? :s

The thing with the Xanafied William also felt dumb to me. Like, it could have been a cool idea buuut it felt so out of character for William to even seem like he was questioning what it was saying to him. William never was okay with being on Xana's side and he, even though in the original show made an arrogant mistake, wants the best for the group. But instead they run off from the tower, and aaahh I won't continue ranting. I did enjoy watching this episode, I swear I really did xD But the scriptwriting could use some polishing.
Odd was being dumb an thought putting them in a shut room would be less risky then running out in the forest where they could be caught.

To Ulrich and Aelita:

Here's an idea. When an enemy is frozen in place and you're in a dead end, that's often considered an opportunity for you to go the other way and bail out.

Just watched with subtitles, and I don't get why William acted like he did. He seemed to be getting on fine, but this episode he seemed really hostile with Odd, and especially with Yumi, and then nearly cost Aelita/Ulrich their codes.

Meanwhile, nice to see that the Spectres are getting upgraded (as XANA gains power). They can finally walk through walls again!

It is increasingly tiring when the writers use William as a crutch to cause tension. I mean his issues have been resolved. They need to move on to someone else.

And I am glad the specters are getting powerful, running, lightning and walking through walls, all things we didn't have at the beginning of the season. And as soon as XANA gets back all his codes he can try to kill the group like his intention was in the original series. By the end of the season we might just get a real XANA attack.

And that's what they'd look like if they were still animated. Happy? http://fav.me/d5dtuvd

Well I'm glad to see I'm not the only one thinking that.

There's something interesting to note: this episode and Rendez-vous were written by the same person, and they share some unique plot elements:

- XANA attacks early in the morning
- Some characters hold it against some others for no apparent reason

Interesting. Is that song known in the US?

Yes, actually. It's appeared in a lot of pop-culture and is a common nursery rhyme even in the US.

Yeah, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't know it or at least the tune. This is how it goes in English (it's pretty much identical to french):

Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping?
Brother John? Brother John?
Morning bells are ringing! Morning bells are ringing!
Ding dang dong! Ding dang dong!

And there are some variations with multiple stanzas but most people don't know those.

We never sing it in English though. Or do we?
I've never known there to be an English version.
As a kid, I grew up with the tune sounding like (note that the French isn't even accurate, cuz well, Americans don't tend to know French):
Faire Jacques Faire Jacques
Dormez-vous Dormez-vous
Na na na na na na
Na na na na na na
Ding dong ding, ding dong ding

It depends on whether or not you learned it as a kid. I remember it being in all the nursery rhyme books/videos and singing it in school. I bet if I asked anyone they'd be able to sing the beginning in English (and then na the rest like you said lol).
